Russia: The Battle of Joshua

Johann Heinrich Schönfeld (1609-1682/3). The Battle of Joshua. Detail. Oil on canvas. 135 by 370. Forties of 17th century. The picture, recorded at Prague Castle since 1685, was cut into two pieces in the middle of the 18th century. These were joined together again in 1964 to form the original unit. The German painter used his daring and subjective imagination to create a new entity out of Neapolitan stimuli and Roman motives. The Baroque delight with space and the mysterious drama of the oriental battle presented in effective light foresaw the painting of the 18th century and represent the most striking aspect of the general effect.

Ireland: Cottages of Ireland

Encompassing a wealth of natural beauty within its modest dimensions, Ireland boasts a landscape which is as much diverse as it is gratifying from scenic landscapes and country cottages to stately castles. Standing in the path of both the prevailing westerly winds of the Atlantic and the warming currents of the Gulf Stream, Ireland enjoys an equitable climate which gives the country its unique fresh appearance.

Australia: Western Australia

This card was sent to me by a postcrosser using a website where you upload a picture, enter an address and a message and the company prints and mails it. The card is of very bad quality, probably because the user used an image of low resolution. And it is also no fun to receive a card with Australian ID from Canada. I hope the sender reconsiders using the service.
